What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a person who has the drive and ability to make a difference. A person with exceptional passion for, skill and understanding of children who experience complex mental health needs and associated challenging behaviour.
The Trauma-Informed Behaviour Support Practitioner will proactively support school staff in planning and managing children’s challenging behaviour using trauma-informed principles and the PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) approach. The role involves building trusting relationships with staff and children, understanding individual needs, and collaboratively developing interventions to foster positive behaviour and emotional well-being. By analysing the functions of behaviour and incorporating trauma-informed strategies, the practitioner will help create supportive, nurturing environments where children can thrive.
You will:
• Work proactively with children, families and staff teams to support social and emotional development.
• Take a lead in using functional behaviour analysis, along with planning and reviewing interventions for social and emotional development.
• Monitor and analyse high level behaviours.
The Right Candidate Will Have:
• A good understanding of child development and learning processes
• The ability to be a great team player and also be able to work independently and use initiative
• An open-minded and inquisitive approach to the job but the ability to work to agreed strategies and procedures
• The ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with children, fellow staff members and families
• Experience of using ICT effectively
Working hours will be 8.40am to 3.40pm, Term time only.
