Interview Date: 23rd April 2025 Main duties of the job The successful candidate will join 28 other Consultants, 1 Specialty Doctor, 1 Associate Specialist and 33 Resident Doctors andwill be responsible for the management of Trauma and Orthopaedic patients along our care pathways and will be part of a team managing acute trauma lists, trauma meetings, fracture clinics, and regular Multidisciplinary team meetings. They will be required to contribute to a 1 in 16 on-call rota. Full ranges of trauma and elective services are provided. The Orthopaedic Surgeons work in close association with the Southampton University Hospital Trust which is our Major Trauma Centre. We accept patients from the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton, patients with severe neurological damage may be treated in The Wessex Spinal Injury Unit at Odstock Hospital, Salisbury which is also the location of the Regional Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit. Virtual fracture clinics are held every day and face to face fracture clinics run Monday to Friday all day. These are preceded by a trauma round where cases admitted during the previous night requiring surgery are assessed and their management determined. The trauma list takes place in dedicated theatres every day with a second trauma list Monday to Friday. At present there are five further sub speciality trauma lists during the week on various days.
