Job ID: 2828904 | Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd
Here at Amazon we are currently seeking experienced Operations Managers to join our Customer Fulfillment team at our brand new Fulfillment Center in Horsley Park.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the AU Fulfillment Center (FC) leadership team during its phase of expansion and growth, whereby you get to define the process flows and shape up standard work routines as the operations scale up.
As an Operations Manager, you’ll deliver inspiring, inclusive leadership for the teams you supervise. You won’t shy away from getting involved whenever necessary.
You’ll be directly responsible for supervising a team of Area Managers and their direct reports, while reporting to the Site Lead of your Fulfillment Center. The quality of your leadership is key to achievement in this role: you’ll motivate and inspire your teams to do their best work, while planning schedules and activities that balance their needs with that of the business.
Another key aspect of your role will be to coordinate numerous process improvement projects, with the aim of streamlining all activities for yourself and the team members you supervise. The ideas, innovation, and leaps out of the status quo that you come up with could very well be rolled out across the Amazon network.
Please note the shift pattern is based on 4 nights on and 3 nights off (Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday).
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Maintaining Health and Safety standards within your remit area, while promoting an inspiring Health and Safety culture on-site.
2. Become a subject matter expert on specific, larger-scale processes and activities within FCs.
3. In your inventory control and systems environment, you’ll handle timely data collection, updating operations metrics on an hourly basis.
4. Aim to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and ensure a high-quality customer experience.
5. Work closely with other support teams (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety and Security, IT) on staffing plans, schedules, and performance levels.
6. Implement process change and contribute to cross-functional Six Sigma initiatives within your site and the broader Amazon Operations network.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous experience in leading large, diverse teams.
2. Experience in employee and performance management.
3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Proven experience in a similar, innovative logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
5. Proven ability in establishing and carrying out root cause analysis, and then extracting and analyzing the data generated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
2. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
3. Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
4. Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous.
5. Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
