We are looking for someone with the confidence and passion to advocate for better mental health support for refugees and people seeking asylum. You will work to ensure that the views and experiences of refugees and people seeking asylum are taken into consideration by local service providers and policy makers, in order to understand and cater to the mental health needs of the population.
You will work closely with partner organisations to coordinate the partnership’s operations and promote its development, and you will develop and facilitate a Lived Experience Forum. With support from our expert partners, you will be able to support the development and promotion of relevant campaigns.
You will have great leadership skills, with a positive and encouraging manner. At the same time, you will be a passionate advocate for empowering others from behind the scenes, building them up to find their own voice and take action for what is important to them.
It is important that you are very organised and able to manage your own workload well independently. Simultaneously, you will be very collaborative as there will be a range of parties you will need to work closely with as part of the role.
The job holder will be expected to be mobile and flexible to attend meetings and activities at various locations in and around Gateshead, with some possible UK travel on occasion.
This position is a fixed term, temporary contract for 2 years.
Please note: You must have lived experience of seeking asylum in the UK to apply for this role.
