We are seeking a dedicated, caring and committed individual to join our teams, across two sites, on a part-time, fixed-term basis. This post is from 1st November 2024, until 31st August 2025 in the first instance, due to school funding.Start and finish times can be negotiated with both schools, with potential for flexible hours across the year. There is also scope for additional hours, based on the needs of the school and skills of the successful applicant.General duties
Understand and act in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures at all times.Maintain a healthy and safe environment for pupils, staff and other users of the school’s premises.Organise and carry out maintenance duties to ensure the general upkeep of the premises and comply with health and safety duties of the school.Help to implement the school’s planned repair and maintenance programme in line with the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP) and health and safety standards.Collect and assemble waste for collection in line with local procedures. Undertake a check of the school premises, including fencing and play areas, on a regular basis.Maintain the school grounds, e.g. clearing leaves. Organise and help with the agreed decoration, maintenance, repairs and improvement work.Undertake some cleaning duties, e.g. litter picking. Ensure all pathways within and around the school premises are kept clear for access. Maintain all drains and gullies, ensuring that they are kept clear and free flowing. In the absence of the site manager, oversee onsite contractors and suppliers. Create and maintain up-to-date and accurate records, including information regarding the ordering of resources and safety instructions for specialist equipment.Carry out simple administrative tasks as required for health and safety. Erect signage clearly marking any hazards or potential hazards. Clean and maintain all site signage, ensuring that it is clearly visible. Demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment or materials.Act in accordance with the school’s health and safety procedures as they relate to the building, facilities, cleaning and grounds.Help to undertake risk assessments for all aspects of the school grounds, as required. Help to undertake risk assessments and control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessments, where appropriate.Inspect the school premises and surrounding grounds, ensuring all health and safety standards are being met.Carry out gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing around the school premises, when necessary.Communication
Liaise with the school’s contractors to ensure services are carried out sufficiently, such as ensuring that cleaning is in accordance with specification requirements.Report any breakages, spillages, lost property and equipment malfunctions to the headteacher as appropriate.Report any issues or concerns to the headteacher.Additional duties
Assist as required with the unloading and distributing of deliveries to the correct area within the school.Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions when required. Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the headteacher. Be a key holder to lock/unlock the school site as and when required. SAFEGUARDING
Everyone who works at both schools and preschools have the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and must:✓ ensure awareness of school policy and procedures re Child Protection and Safeguarding.✓ become aware of the signs and symptoms of abuse by attending relevant training. ✓ report all causes for concern to the Designated Safeguarding Lead via appropriate methods.✓ ensure the safety of all pupils in the school learning environment both indoor and outdoor.✓ ensure they complete or are aware of risk assessments pertaining to children in their care or regarding any off-site visits. The duties of this post will change and develop over time. It is the jobholder’s responsibility,in conjunction with their manager, to regularly review this document and amend it when necessary.
