You will work on one of three teams dealing with the input and administration of various Police Officer issued offence notices such as fixed penalty tickets and penalty notices for disorder and/or dealing with the verification and administration of speed camera offences. This involves reviewing offences detected by speed cameras, making decisions according to pre-determined policies and criteria whether an offence should be processed, and thereafter ensuring that statutory notices are issued within the legal time limit. You will be required to deal with large volumes of correspondence and telephone calls from members of the public, courts and colleagues within the wider Force. Although pre-drafted letter templates are provided, you should be competent and comfortable in drafting responses to correspondence. The work is heavily reliant on dedicated IT software in which training will be provided. The post holder should however be comfortable working within an IT environment and should be fully conversant with applications such as Microsoft Word. PNC and Athena access would be an advantage although training can be arranged if required. The Traffic Enforcement Team is part of the Traffic Process Unit which combines all aspects of traffic offence management. The focus of the unit is to reduce the burden of bureaucracy for frontline officers, and this does involve changing and evolving processes and procedures.
