We are seeking applications from enthusiastic individuals to become the Clinical Lead for Adult Ophthalmology at The Royal London Hospital. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day clinical running of the Ophthalmology Department within the Dental, OMFS and Ophthalmology Directorate. The role is very busy and will include outpatient management, management of 18-week RTT performance, line management of Ophthalmology clinical staff, leading clinical governance processes within the Ophthalmology department, delivery of service improvements and planning with operational and nursing colleagues and working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients.
The Clinical Lead will provide leadership and direction to the Adult Ophthalmology department; with a particular focus on providing high quality, safe, well-governed, productive and cost-effective services which support the trust in delivering its strategic objectives.
In conjunction with the directorate leadership team the Clinical Lead will lead their department(s) in delivering the priorities, goals and objectives agreed with the Clinical Director across the following domains:
1. Well Led – Leadership, governance, and promoting learning and innovation
2. Responsive – Services are well organised to meet the needs of patients
3. Safe – Protecting staff and patients from abuse and avoidable harm
4. Effective – Care, treatment and support achieves great patient outcomes
5. Caring – Patients are treated with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect
The post holder will be jointly accountable for the overall performance of the service for the site in delivering national and local health care priorities, ensuring clinical quality, patient safety, and improving patient experience.
The Adult Ophthalmology Clinical Lead will work in a team comprising of a Service Manager, Service Delivery Manager, and nursing lead and will work closely with the Clinical Director, General Manager and Senior Nurse for the Directorate.
