We are looking for a staff nurse with an interest in caring for medical patients who will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care needs for patients. The role involves working within a specialist area to deliver high standards of care, working closely with other teams and liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team. The ward is a 31-bedded general medical ward and we care for patients with a range of medical ailments. Nurses will increase their knowledge and skills in relation to different chronic and acute conditions. We are a great team and we look forward to you joining.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be involved in the following:
1. The assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes in care.
2. You will be responsible for the delivery of nursing care to patients.
3. You will supervise the work of nursing support staff ensuring that tasks undertaken have been completed and delegated appropriately.
4. It is vital that you include patients/carers in the planning and delivery of care.
5. Where appropriate, you will perform clinical skills relevant to the training you have undertaken such as venepuncture, cannulation, and administration of intravenous drugs including blood products.
6. It is imperative that you are proactive in managing risk and maintaining patient safety.
7. You are expected to adhere to the NMC code of conduct and adhere to the NMC standards of record keeping.
8. You must be able to provide advice and act as a role model to other members of the team.
9. We promote a positive and professional image of nursing on the ward and the candidate must comply with this.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in adult nursing.
* Worked within an acute clinical area, preferably Medicine.
Statutory Registration
* RGN NMC registration.
