First Grade Teacher - Falmouth Elementary School (Fall 2025)
Falmouth Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated first grade teacher to join our dynamic team of educators. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a love of learning in young students and creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. The ideal applicant will have experience teaching in the early grades (K-2) and a deep understanding of child development, ensuring instruction is both developmentally appropriate and responsive to students’ needs.
Candidates should have expertise in structured literacy and explicit, systematic phonics instruction. Experience implementing Illustrative Math curriculum, to support conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, is preferred. The ability to effectively utilize formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction, differentiate learning experiences, and ensure all students are making progress toward academic goals is crucial. A commitment to restorative practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is essential, as we strive to cultivate a supportive and respectful school culture where all students feel valued and empowered. A strong candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families. Solid communication skills, a growth mindset, and a passion for fostering student engagement are all essential qualities for this position.
Qualifications:
* Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the appropriate valid Maine teacher (020) certification.
* Experience teaching at the first grade level is preferred.
* The candidate must have an approved background check (run by the district).
