From January, an Elland Primary school is looking for a learning support assistant to work 1:1 with a boy in Year 1 with autism.
Day to day for this SEND teaching assistant role:
Supporting him with learning tasks
Communicating effectiviely with the child (using makaton and visuals as needed)
Supporting him with behaviour
Encouraging/ promoting independence as much as possibleAs a support assistant you will show strong pastoral and emotional support for your pupil, as well as being vigilant to their cues and needs which will mean able to think on the spot and being flexible with his timetable. The pupil will require some brain breaks or walks around school as needed.
