Due to company expansion and development, we are looking for a General Manager to support our fight against Damp & Mould The General Manager will lead the delivery of Damp & Mould Compliance (DMC) services across multiple Social Housing contracts, ensuring sound operational and commercial principles. This General Manager role is essential in establishing Mears as a leader in proactive DMC management within the housing sector by supporting branches, delivering exceptional services, and driving business development & change. Mears provide and manage 17,000 homes for local and central Government and are also responsible for keeping 750,000 social housing homes in the UK in good repair. Mears has 5,400 employees and a footprint across the country. This role will be a pivotal position in moving Mears forward into being a proactive DMC specialist and promoting Mears as a shield for excellence. We are looking for a General Manager who has proven experience operating on sound Operational works with a trade and or chartered surveying background. About the role: As a General Manager at Mears, you will be pivotal in developing our Damp & Mould Compliance (DMC) Task Team in collaboration with our existing branch network and leaders. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will support the growth of our skilled specialist resources, bespoke to the needs and complexities of our customers' homes and communities. You will ensure that Mears delivers exceptional, compliant services by empowering teams, developing skills, and providing effective technical solutions. Roles & Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership, identifying and addressing the root causes of damp & mould in occupied buildings. Ensure a deep understanding of various technical solutions to deliver long-lasting results for residents, handling complex cases, and providing expert technical guidance and solutions. Working effectively with branch leaders to seamlessly integrate the DMC Task Team into existing operations. Build a collaborative team by recruiting, onboarding, and developing a high-performing team of DMC Specialists with strong technical expertise in damp & mould root cause identification and building performance. Fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where team members share knowledge, learn from each other, and work together to achieve shared goals. Developing and overseeing comprehensive training programs for DMC Specialists, ensuring they stay current on industry standards, best practices, and Mears Shield protocols. Leading data analysis related to DMC service delivery, identifying trends, optimising resource allocation, and implementing proactive risk management strategies. Translating data insights into actionable recommendations to improve service efficiency, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness. Role Criteria: Building Surveying Qualifications General Health & Safety, IOSH, CSCS, SMSTS. Demonstrable previous hands on experience at Snr Management level. Must be able to influence, negotiate and drive change Effectively challenge and communicate effectively at all levels Having a genuine understanding of industry and service delivery to a full range of clients Proactive results driven mind set. Demonstrable previous hands on experience within the Social Housing arena.
