Our client is a local housing authority providing maintenance services to properties across the Norwich area.
They are currently recruiting for an experienced carpenter / multi-trade to work on a domestic maintenance contract carrying out work in properties across the area. This could include major works, void refurbishment, or response maintenance.
The job role will include window repairs, so experience in this field would be required.
Monday-Friday - 39 hours per week with a 3pm finish on Fridays.
Self-employed and PAYE options available. £18.50 an hour.
This is a mobile engineer role, and own van is required for the first 13 weeks. If the role becomes permanent, a van and tools will be provided, and then going on to the client's salaried rate with holidays and benefits.
The candidate will ideally be a skilled and experienced multi-skilled tradesperson who holds skills in trades such as carpentry, plastering, tiling, and painting and decorating.
The successful individual will ideally hold a minimum level 2 NVQ or be time-served while also being experienced in completing various other day-to-day repairs/maintenance tasks. As a skilled multi-trade operative with relevant experience in responsive maintenance, you will be required to undertake a variety of allocated works across the Norwich area.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Management of day-to-day jobs allocated by a central team.
2. Updating PDA devices with key information and work schedules.
3. To ensure all assigned tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient standard.
4. Promoting the client’s corporate image and excellent service standard on every resident visit.
5. Making decisions upon specialist experience and knowledge.
6. Ensuring compliance at all times with necessary regulations, standards, and legal responsibilities of repair work and contractor compliance.
7. Managing van stock effectively.
Knowledge and Experience
1. Experience within a domestic maintenance environment.
2. Multi-trade experience.
3. Excellent customer service skills as will be working in tenanted properties.
4. Trade City & Guilds/NVQ qualification or time served.
5. Full UK driving license & own van.
