Part of these changes involves creating a specialist team to work on our homes and proactively with our tenants when we may fall short of the quality standards expected. As such, we have created a new role of a Technical Officer who will specialise in tackling issues of disrepair throughout our residential portfolio and take a lead in our response to preventing issues of damp and mould arising. The main areas of responsibility include: Providing technical expertise in relation to disrepair and damp and mould, progressing cases from referral to successful completion. Undertaking investigations of cases to diagnose issues, propose practical and cost-effective solutions, prepare and check reports and schedules of work, and supervise and contract manage works to completion, supporting the notion of ‘right first time’. Delivering excellent customer service and updates to residents and colleagues, ensuring service standards and KPIs are met and exceeded. Managing the administrative officer and team performance, inputting into service improvements and innovation in practice. The successful candidate will have: A professional qualification or significant relevant experience in building, surveying, disrepair, or similar other construction related environment. Ideally accredited by RICs or CIOB. NEBOSH / IOSH and HHSRS qualifications desirable. Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance and construction. Experience of managing disrepair and high-level damp and mould cases from referral to completion. Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation in relation to property management. Proactive and practical problem-solving skills. Experience of managing projects, contracts and contractors. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Good prioritisation and time management skills.
