Job overview
To be responsible for the specialist assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of complex physiotherapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health, learning disabilities and/or neurological conditions. To manage and provide on-going specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment using evidence-based practice. The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing. To facilitate the delivery of Physiotherapy Student Education within the clinical setting. To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity. To provide clinical supervision and leadership to staff as delegated by the team lead.
Main duties of the job
Be HCPC Registered Physiotherapist.
Have a nationally recognised professional Physiotherapy qualification.
Evidence of post registration clinical experience and clinical skills training.
Knowledge and application of evidence-based Physiotherapy interventions.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Engagement Skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the Clinical Audit process and its application.
IT skills.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The following should be considered essential:
* Previous experience of working with people with a learning disability/neurological disability and a keen interest to further develop in this speciality.
* Knowledge of different clinical presentations of people with learning disability and how they impact on function.
* Clinical physiotherapy skills across the discipline including assessment and treatment techniques, clinical reasoning, and knowledge of outcome measures.
* Able to develop and provide client-centred, goal-orientated, and graded rehabilitation programmes and interventions to meet the specific needs of the service user with supervision from a senior therapist.
* Ability to clearly communicate clinical information, considering a variety of strategies to support people with complex communication/complex needs.
* Knowledge of the use of specialist seating, Orthotics, postural and spasticity management.
* Knowledge of physical, and environmental assessments and treatments.
* Car driver/full licence holder.
The following should be considered desirable, or post holders should have a commitment to attaining them:
* Evidenced based critical appraisal skills.
* Knowledge regarding the effect of cognition, behavioural, perceptual and communication problems of the cohort.
* Member of a special interest group.
* Knowledge and experience of the research process.
* Knowledge of outcome measures relevant to this client group.
* Experience and/or knowledge in the provision of Hydrotherapy/Rebound Therapy.
It is expected that the post holder will demonstrate competent clinical practice and continue to further develop clinical knowledge and skills with relevant training and clinical supervision.

* Ability to present information written and orally in a clear and logical manner, including patient records.

Qualifications
* State registration with HCPC.
* Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
* Further relevant post qualifying training.
* Evidence of post qualification training.
Experience
* Proven track record of post registration, clinical experience/learning disability.
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and CSP standards and other local and national initiatives.
