Telford & Wrekin Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Highways, Engineering and Project Delivery teams as a Civil Engineering Apprentice. We will support you to become a Qualified Engineer through the completion of a comprehensive apprentice programme where you will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Civil and Transportation Engineering and securing Incorporated Engineering status with the Institute of Civil Engineers. Alongside the academic programme, you will have the opportunity to work alongside various teams across the highways, engineering and development management teams over a 5-year period which will give you a solid foundation to build your career upon as an Engineer at Telford & Wrekin Council. You will gain an understanding of various disciplines and will be a key member of the team taking projects from inception to delivery. The programme will provide you experience of the following areas (but not limited to): Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Highways Engineering Geotechnical Engineering Drainage Engineering Structural Engineering Project Management and Delivery Streetlighting Development Management (Highways) Contract Management You will progress from a Civil Engineering Apprentice to an Engineering Technician following the successful completion of the first two years of the programme. You will then progress to an Assistant Engineer after successful completion of your BEng Civil and Transportation Engineering. We have 626 miles of road, 743 miles of footpaths, 132 cycle ways, 20,000 street lights, 120 roundabouts, around 400 parks and open spaces and around 15 million trees. You will combine work with studying, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications while gaining valuable skills and practical experience. Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16, not in full-time education and living in England. If you hold a degree you will be eligible for an apprenticeship at any level, however the apprenticeship must provide you with substantive new skills, you must be able to evidence that the content of the training is materially different from any prior qualification or apprenticeship As a team member, you will work under the instruction / guidance of the team leader to undertake work. You will be studying for BEng (Hons) in Civil and Transportation Engineering and securing Incorporated Engineering status with the Institute of Civil Engineers The apprenticeship content will be tailored to suit the tasks you will be doing in your day to day work and you will receive support and guidance in building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in the workplace.
