They’ve developed a strong name in these specialists markets with a real appetite to support their brokers, introducers and end-users. Due to growth, our client is looking to recruit a new underwriter for their team. This will be a great opportunity to report into a supportive manager who is keen on developing his staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating mortgage applications and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role involves detailed analysis of financial documents, risk assessment, and decision-making regarding loan approvals. Responsibilities: - Evaluate and underwrite residential and commercial mortgage applications. - Analyse financial documents, credit reports, and property appraisals to assess applicant risk. - Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies. - Make informed lending decisions and provide clear, concise rationale for approvals or denials. - Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriters, promoting best practices and professional development. - Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth processing of mortgage applications. - Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance underwriting processes and efficiency. - Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in mortgage underwriting. Requirements: - Minimum of 12 months experience in underwriting. - Extensive knowledge of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements. - Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools. -Specific experience in underwriting bridging loans and buy-to-let mortgage would be an advantage but not essential. - Familiarity with the unique risk assessments and regulatory considerations associated with bridging loans and buy-to-let properties.
