Operations Manager - Children's Residential Services

As the Operations Manager, you will be tasked with devising and executing the strategic vision, ensuring financial sustainability, and establishing a leadership framework for the children’s residential service. Your goal is to maintain a comprehensive strategic and operational perspective on service delivery and improvements. You will lead the transformation, planning, development, and coordination of the future of our Looked After Children services.
YMCA Robin Hood Group’s Children and Young People’s Residential Therapeutic Service comprises six purposely designed homes which hold Ofsted ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
All our homes adopt a psychologically informed approach to caring for children with trauma lived experiences within a home environment and the community. Our approach has been designed in collaboration with our Consultant Forensic Psychologist, therapists, residential care specialists and wider delivery team, to provide a unique step-down and prevention service from Tier 4 CAMHS.
As Operations’ Manager, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the strategic direction, financial sustainability and leadership framework for the children’s residential service with the goal of maintaining the strategic and operational overview of service delivery and service improvements. This is a role where you will be as involved with the care and support of the children and young people as you are with the strategic development of the service.
On a day to day basis, you role will take the following shape:
• To oversee and project manage the sourcing and registration of new homes and services, working collaboratively with internal and external teams to maximise efficient use of resources • To develop a sustainable business plan and business model which reflect the strategic objectives. • Responsible for maintaining the existing ratings of Outstanding and Good in our homes by ensuring the values, ethos and principles of child centred services are adopted within the new homes and services • To act as the Responsible Individual and nurture good relationships with stakeholders, including Ofsted Inspectors and Commissioning Authorities • To develop a workforce plan that promotes effective recruitment of a skilled workforce and the development of the existing staff to support their career development and expansion of their skills and qualifications.
About You
With extensive experience within children’s residential care working at a Senior Management level, you will have demonstrable experience of running and opening new residential homes, working with Ofsted and managing a large staff team, across multiple locations.
You will be able to bring huge amounts of experience to help us achieve our goals and you will be motivated by the desire to positively impact the lives of the children within our care.
From your previous experience, you will be comfortable managing complex budgets, executing the strategic plan and driving excellent performance. Whether you are from a commercial or charitable sector previously, you will share our desire to open new homes create more opportunities for children and young who stay with us are provided with space, time and support to heal from developmental and relational trauma. Either through qualification or experience, we are looking for you to possess an extensive knowledge of relevant childcare and social care legislation, child protection and safeguarding. You must be willing and able to register as the organisation’s Responsible Individual with OFSTED.
We love for you to hold a qualification in business management suitable for the seniority of the post, or be willing to obtain within 12 months of appointment, with our full support.
