We’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Estate Management Team, working across Wiltshire and Dorset including the Kingston Lacy, Stourhead, Purbeck and Lacock estates. You’ll lead the approach to managing a large and varied portfolio including residential, holiday cottages, commercial, and agricultural properties. Principally working on historic and listed buildings, you’ll be a key influence in helping guide and prepare our let buildings to meet future challenges. Your contractual location will be our Tisbury Hub in south Wiltshire and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office at least once a week. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times which could be at one of our Estate Offices in Wiltshire or Dorset. You will be required to work one of those National Trust locations for 60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. What you'll be doing As the technical buildings lead in our multi-disciplinary and friendly team, you’ll be delivering high level planned and reactive maintenance over a three-year budget settlement, focusing on getting the best value from the work and delivering an excellent service to our customers. The role will also require you to manage or be the client for a variety of construction projects up to the value of £1m. Line managing and supporting the professional development of a small team of building supervisors and a project manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in preparing our let estate for the future. Who we're looking for We'd love to hear from you if you: Are a qualified surveyor or architect (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent) Have a high-level financial acumen and strong experience of managing large budgets within in a project management framework Have demonstrable interest in building surveying relating to heritage and conservation Are someone who is prepared take an inclusive leadership role in our buildings team especially around development of skills, supporting the delivery of compliance and the mitigation of risk.
