Commercial Litigation Legal Counsel - West Midlands
A rare opportunity has arisen for a contentious lawyer to join the in-house team of a global organisation where you will lead on commercial disputes and support across a broader range of non-contentious commercial areas. We are keen to hear from contentious lawyers who either have some non-contentious experience or alternately who are willing and would enjoy up-skilling in non-contentious areas to have a broad role encompassing both contentious and non-contentious areas.
Our client is an innovative cutting-edge business in the building and construction sector, working across a variety of landscapes including residential and commercial development, infrastructure, education and healthcare, both in the UK and internationally.
This long-established business, with a successful and mature legal team, has recognised the need to bolster its existing legal team with the addition of a disputes lawyer to facilitate litigation function in-house from its current home with external law firms. They consequently require an experienced litigator, preferably with some experience of construction matters, to be responsible for their considerable litigation portfolio, dealing with a mix of cases internally and then managing and overseeing large-scale actions with the support of external lawyers.
It is anticipated that the role will involve 50% contentious work and then 50% non-contentious work. In relation to the non-contentious areas, this is focused on construction and commercial agreements, training, insurance, and compliance areas.
We are keen to hear from lawyers with a good level of contentious experience, with at least 5PQE, so you are able to take a leading role in the strategic handling of the business’s risk and ongoing contentious matters. Any experience in non-contentious commercial areas is a bonus but we are also keen to hear from anyone looking to up-skill in this area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would enjoy building long-term relationships within a business whilst also directing litigation strategy and direction where no 2 days are the same.
