We are currently recruiting for our Adult Autism Team, which has one full-time vacancy for a Qualified Social Worker.
Please be advised that we cannot accept applications from newly qualified Social Workers (NQSW) for this post.
Joining Our Team
BCP Council has a number of Social Work teams that operate across all specialist areas, including Adults and Older People’s Mental Health, Preparing for Adulthood Services, Learning Disability Services, Autism services, Forensic, Assertive Outreach and Community Rehabilitation Teams. Given the nature of this role, it is a requirement for applicants to hold the necessary professional qualification and registration to practice as a Social Worker in the UK through Social Work England.
The successful candidate will need to have demonstrable experience in working within a specialist service with knowledge of application of the Care Act.
We are committed to working within a strengths-based model and as such continue to work within the principles of Fulfilling Lives in meeting our duties within the Care Act.
There is a commitment from the team, and management, to individual wellbeing and we offer a number of opportunities to support development such as high-quality reflective supervision and peer reflection.
An enthusiastic and motivated professional is sought, who can work autonomously and as part of the team whilst contributing proactively to the development of the service and meeting the core objectives of BCP Council.
If you are dedicated and passionate about ensuring people with an autistic spectrum condition live the best possible lives this may be the opportunity for you.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, advocating for adults to assist them in achieving their outcomes, including signposting and providing information and guidance.
This is a single full-time vacancy based within The Adult Autism Team (AAT). This team benefits from the active involvement with our service area teams, which included Community Mental Health Teams, Learning Disabilities and Preparing for Adulthood. The team is made up of an Operational Manager, a Team Manager, two Qualified Social Workers and three Care Managers.
What You Can Expect to be Doing
You will be undertaking the Three Conversations Model approach, which focuses on the needs of BCP residents over the age of 18 and their carers.
When you join this team, you will be working across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole and will be based at Bournemouth Civic Centre, with the ability to work flexibly across locations in the BCP area combined with home working.
You will support and enable people to minimise dependence and maximise independence through strength based, self-directed support, commissioning, monitoring, and reviewing to meet the individuals’ identified goals.
You will be responsible for a caseload which will entail visiting BCP residents within various settings.
Flexibility
We can offer opportunities for flexible working such as part-time or compressed hours (though you may need to work some unsocial hours, depending on your contract), and can consider the best location for you as we have hubs across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. We also support an element of home working as part of our agile hybrid model.
Applications
Applications will be reviewed as and when received; you do not need to wait until the closing date. To apply, please read the Job Description and then complete the application form, evidencing how you meet our listed core essential criteria, including your social work qualification and registration number. The qualifications we accept are as follows:
1. Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
2. BSc / BA Social Work (BSc/BASW)
3. Masters in Social Work (MSW)
4. Social Work Degree Apprenticeship (SWDA)
5. Equivalent Oversees Qualification (must be validated by Social Work England)
Additional Information
Please only apply for this post if you are currently living in the UK and can evidence current and satisfactory right to work. We are not currently supporting applicants that require a work visa or sponsorship to practice in the UK. You must also hold a valid full UK driving license, with access to your own car, or be able to travel efficiently (and sustainably where possible) to fulfil the needs of the role using public or other forms of transport.
