Role OverviewTraining and Core Responsibilities:
Your role begins with a comprehensive 12-day training program at the Fire Service College in Moreton-In-Marsh, covering skills essential for deployment, including:
Hose running
Hydrant operation
Pump operation
Ladder climbing
Operating a Fire Engine in an emergency situation
Road Traffic Collision (RTC) – the use of hydraulic cutting equipment
First Aid
Emergency response driving (Driving on blue lights) Key Responsibilities:
Engage in ongoing training to maintain deployable status, including a 12-day initial training, 5-day initial emergency response driver training and annual 6-day refresher courses.
Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on the fire engine, pump, hoses, and related equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.
Participate in scenario-based training and skills practice during ‘stand-down’ times to ensure full readiness.
Mobilise quickly to Central London and deploy to designated emergency locations as needed.
Support emergency response activities, performing tasks typically handled by professional firefighters.
Travel throughout the UK, prepared for extended assignments and periods of training and readiness exercises.
Adhere to safety protocols for personal protective equipment and vehicles.
