Job Description
Based in Watford
* JOB TITLE: Linux System Engineer
* SALARY: £49,788 - £60,852
* LOCATION(S): Watford
* HOURS: Full-time
* WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of our time at our Watford office.
About this Opportunity
Assists with designing, building and unit testing code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect. Working in one of our cross-disciplinary teams, engineers will have the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge and understanding as well as practice and demonstrate the workplace skills and behaviours required for this job role.
* Support the existing Tusker web environments, both production and pre-production.
* Work closely with the Tusker development team to assist in the delivery of projects.
* Application of patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
* Installation of new IT equipment (servers, services, settings, storage, policies, etc.).
What you’ll need
* You will need experience in the following programs: Linux (Ubuntu and Debian preferred), AWS (EC2 and RDS), VMware, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Apache, NGINX.
* Experience with monitoring tools is vital.
* Delivers support services (mostly of a routine nature) by using customer systems and protocols. Already works within current standard IT security processes, systems, and procedures.
* Carries out simple knowledge management tasks by following established procedures in order to support others.
* Supports development of personal capabilities by pursuing existing formal and informal training opportunities.
* Performs simple risk monitoring and assessment tasks by following established procedures in order to provide support to others.
* Follows existing procedures and precedents in resolving accurate course of action for routine functional enquiries.
And any experience of these would be really useful
* Physical servers with maintaining, servicing and using.
* Experience with Puma, Windows server, Exchange, Dell Boomi Atoms.
* Maintaining and improving DNS.
* Maintaining and improving firewalls.
* Experience with SAN storage.
* Experience supporting database servers (Oracle preferred, Postgres or MySQL is also good) in a regulated environment and with compliance.
