GSL Education are inviting applications for a compassionate and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Dinnington, supporting students with complex social and emotional needs. About The Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable pupils who may have faced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or challenges with emotional regulation. Working within a specialist setting, you will deliver a creative, engaging, and holistic curriculum tailored to meet diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities of SEMH Teacher:
* Delivering differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development.
* Implementing strategies to promote resilience, confidence, and self-regulation in students with SEMH needs.
* Fostering a nurturing classroom environment, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.
* Collaborating with therapists, counsellors, and pastoral teams to create individualised support plans.
* Encouraging engagement in learning through hands-on, multi-sensory activities, tailored to individual needs.
* Providing mentorship and pastoral support, helping students develop emotional intelligence and coping skills.
* Utilising trauma-informed practices to create a supportive and structured educational experience.
* Tracking progress and adapting lesson plans to ensure students achieve their full potential.
* Engaging with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a holistic support system for each child.
The successful candidate will:
* Must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a focus on SEN/SEMH (or willingness to undertake further training).
* Have prior experience teaching students who present challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties, and social vulnerabilities.
* Have familiarity with conditions such as ADHD, ASD, ODD, attachment disorders, PTSD, and anxiety-related difficulties.
* Be knowledgeable in trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and de-escalation techniques.
* Possess knowledge of how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) impact learning and behaviour, and how to implement restorative, therapeutic, and nurturing teaching strategies.
* Show confidence in working collaboratively with support staff, SEN professionals, and therapists.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
