Our client is a successful main contractor with an established reputation within the South West market and beyond. Typical projects are £100k - £5m across; Education, Commercial, Listed Building, Health and Community & Leisure.
Quantity Surveyor - The Role:
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day commercial aspects of construction projects up to £5m.
Typical duties & responsibilities:
1. To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
2. Prepare the cost/value reconciliation reports accurately.
3. Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company.
4. Prepare, and in conjunction with senior management, agree final account with client’s representative.
5. Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins.
6. Ensure sub contract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and/or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals.
7. Maintain control of subcontractor’s accounts and minimise the cost of any variations.
8. Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence.
9. To carry out duties as quantity surveyor on projects as instructed.
10. Prepare or assist with cost/value reconciliation reports on a monthly basis accurately reporting the forecast final financial position of the project.
11. Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast.
Quantity Surveyor - The Person:
1. You will have solid experience with either a regional main contractor.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a QS or Estimator on projects.
3. Quantity Surveying or Building/Construction related qualification would be advantageous.
4. Good understanding and knowledge of the construction industry, including the ability to read architectural drawings and understand the construction process.
5. The ability to prepare contractor’s quantities from specifications and drawings.
6. Cost Control, Cost Management, and Cost Reporting skills.
