Our Post and Portering team are responsible for several tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the University. We operate the post room, goods in, delivery services and Portering which includes Lifting and Shifting items between different locations across the University Campus’s. We work with online booking systems to ensure a timely and effective service to our colleagues and students across the University community.
About the Role:
Forming part of a hardworking and supportive team who mentor each other to maximise the skills available within the team, this role is Integral in the delivery of an efficient Postal, Portering and Goods-In service. The role is responsible for operating computerised systems including but not limited to Franking machines, handheld devices, desk top PCs and Inputting any required data accurately onto out online systems. Receiving goods in and routing them to the correct location within the agreed timescales, delivering items, moving heavy items between buildings and sites, and booking couriers are just some of the tasks this varied role involves.
The working hours are Monday to Friday 8am-4pm with a half hour lunch break.
About You:
You will have some experience of working in a similar role ideally using relevant computerised systems. You will be a strong team player with the ability to use your initiative and problem solve when required and demonstrate the ability to provide excellent customer service. You will have a basic understanding of safe working practices including manual handling and be able to drive vehicles of various types and sizes up to but NOT including HGV.
