Job summary UGI Abdominal Wall & Hernia Fellow Applications are invited for the post of UGI Abdominal Wall & Hernia Fellow in General Surgery. This post will be based at Epsom and St Helier Hospital and is designed to support the elective and emergency General Surgery Service. The post provides an opportunity for advanced training in the management of complex abdominal wall reconstruction and elective laparoscopic hernia surgery. This is a 12 month post specifically for surgeons from the UK or internationally who have recently completed or are nearing the completion of their higher surgical training (post-CCT or equivalent)and wish to expand their surgical experience. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of the Service. He/she will be expected to participate in emergency general surgery on call and this will be dependent on the candidate's level of experience and training needs. Emergency appendectomies are performed on children aged 7 and above. We do not carry out any other emergency general surgical operations in the paediatric population. Elective paediatric surgery is managed by our local tertiary unit, St George's Hospital.
