We require a flexible, self-motivated and hard-working Health Care Assistant to join our busy practice nursing team. This is a fixed term contract of 1 year duration.
You will be working in a supportive team environment but should be confident to work independently when required. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
* Carry out phlebotomy procedures for patients requested by primary and secondary care.
* Patient observations and delivery of health promotion.
* Maintain full and accurate records on the computer system (SystmOne).
* Generate request forms (ICE).
* Management and testing of samples.
* Cleaning and re-stocking rooms.
* Assist with other general day-to-day housekeeping and administrative duties as required including cold chain management, fridge temperature monitoring, infection control procedures, managing stock/equipment.

This job description outlines the role of the Health Care Assistant together with the duties required of this position. Health Care Assistants will have daily contact with patients and are required to be professional, courteous and understanding to their needs. Excellent communication skills are essential as liaising effectively with other health professionals and colleagues is a major part of this role.
Job Summary:
The post holder works under the supervision of the practice nurse team and undertakes tasks and duties delegated by a practice nurse or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified as a phlebotomist.
* Previous experience of working as a Health Care Assistant in a GP practice.
* Experience of using SystmOne (training can be provided).
