JOB OVERVIEW
As a Utility Surveyor, your role will involve supporting Senior Surveyors and Project Managers to conduct surveys in a variety of different environments. You should have the ability to plan and execute small to medium sized jobs and manage time scales, be able to adapt and problem solve and know when to recognise and escalate problems up to senior team members. You must have good communication skills to enable you to brief your team members on site and speak with clients where required. The types of survey tasks you will carry out include topographic, utility, laser scanning, and office data processing. The sectors in which we specialise are rail and guided transport, highways and bridges, aviation and airside, estates and property, energy & utilities, and environmental & marine.
PTS and CSCS accreditations are required, so willingness to complete is essential. You must have a full UK driving licence and be willing to take and pass regular drugs and alcohol screening.
Flexibility in working hours, the willingness to travel, stay away from home, and to work outside in adverse weather conditions are all essential requirements of this role.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for undertaking utility and topographical surveys
2. Manhole lifting and assisting with the observations and measurements
3. Locating utilities via electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar
4. Total station and GPS/GNSS observations
5. Working with the latest technology – Stream Up
6. Create Utility Survey drawings and Reports
7. Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties that may arise
8. Mentor and train less experienced team members as and when required
9. Management and maintenance of survey equipment
10. Production of CAD Drawings from Survey Data
11. Post Processing of GPR Data in GREDHD and IQ Maps
12. Assistance in the overall development of the survey department
13. Adherence to Company manuals and processes
14. Ensure QA/QC Compliance
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. Previous experience working as a Utility Surveyor (minimum 2 years)
2. Experience carrying out topographical surveys
3. Experience of using Robotic Total Stations & GNSS
4. Use of GPR and Electromagnetic Locating techniques
5. A suitable qualification in a surveying related discipline advantageous
6. Experience using CAD software
7. Understanding of PAS128 Standards
8. A good team player with excellent communication skills
9. A desire to learn on the job and have a can-do attitude
10. Full UK driving licence
11. Right to work in the UK
