About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Billing Lead/Billing Lead, the Meter Operations Assistant will proactively support the Billing Department, particularly within the Meter Reading Team. This role ensures timely and accurate meter readings and data processing while maintaining industry-leading customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Uphold company brand values by answering customer queries and resolving complaints with first-class service.
2. Manage Internal Warrant Process: Collaborate with external meter reading contractors and customers to resolve access issues efficiently.
3. Coordinate Meter Reading Schedules: Prepare and manage schedules in line with established processes to ensure timely meter readings.
4. Liaise with Contractors: Work closely with external Meter Reading Contractors to ensure timely and accurate customer reads.
5. Accurate Data Processing: Process meter readings on the billing system with precision, meeting all KPI requirements.
6. Investigate Read Anomalies: Contact customers to investigate and resolve any discrepancies in meter readings.
7. Book Meter Inspections: Schedule and confirm meter inspection appointments with customers.
8. Update Meter Access Information: Collect and maintain accurate meter access data.
9. Conduct Meter Reads and Analysis: Perform annual and monthly meter reads and usage analysis to support Network Operator processes.
10. Support Customer Service Team: Collaborate with the Customer Service Team on switching reads and provide technical support for meter reading queries.
11. Assist with Customer Support Projects: Participate in various customer support projects, including typing, mail shots, and copying.
12. Handle Customer Calls: Assist with customer phone calls during busy periods to meet business needs.
13. Additional Duties: Undertake any additional tasks as directed by the Billing Manager.

Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
1. Educational Background: Minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including English and Math.
2. Customer Service Experience: Proven experience in a customer-facing role, showcasing your ability to interact effectively with clients.
3. IT Proficiency: Excellent IT skills, particularly in manipulating data using Excel.
4. Communication Skills: Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building relationships across various departments.
5. Positive Attitude: Highly motivated with a positive outlook, ready to tackle challenges head-on.
6. Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and manage time efficiently.
Desirable:
1. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with customer account and meter reading processes.
2. Utility Experience: Previous experience working in the utility industry, bringing valuable insights and expertise.
