Job description
Job responsibilities
Work alongside the waste management team to deliver projects to improve recycling and reducing the trusts carbon impact.
Remove unwanted furniture/bulky items from Trust sites and dispose of appropriately using correct manual handling equipment and techniques where necessary. Ensure appropriate PPE is worn. Devolve safe methods of work standards to any work colleagues who needs relevant training. Dismantling bulky items and dispose of using correct segregation in designated areas. Ensure work areas are kept safe and tidy.
Complete 'Waste Run Downs', speaking with Ward Sisters and Departmental Managers to identify unwanted/condemned furniture/equipment. Plan working day to remove items in most time efficient way
Assist with completion of annual 'Pre-acceptance Waste Audit'. Survey each area within the Hospital and highlight items which have been incorrectly segregated and/or breech waste legislation. Record results on agreed template and give feedback with action plans to close any compliance gaps.
Assist with furniture moves across the Trust as requested. Ensure furniture is moved safely and efficiently, avoided damage to items or building fabric.
Assist Waste Manager in completing departmental waste audits and actions.
Comply with all SSL Policies and Procedures including (but not exclusively), Quality, Environmental Equality, Diversity, Safety, Human Resources and Financial. Complete Annual Staff survey
This is a full time position ( hours per week) over 5 days (Monday - Friday)

Qualifications
Essential
1. Good general education including GCSE in Maths and English Grades A - C
Desirable
2. Waste management legislation
3. Health and Safety legislation
Experience

4. Good communication skills.
5. IT literate, with excellent keyboard skills and experience of using Microsoft Office.
6. Organisational ability.
