Structural Aluminum Fabricator/Welder
Candidate must be reliable, self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to deliver jobs within the expected time frame. They MUST have EXPERIENCE AT LEAST 5YRS in the structural steel industry and 2 YEARS in the aluminum fabrication industry. This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience, and immediate work within our shop in Portsmouth, VA.
Responsibilities include:
1. Demonstrate ability to perform multi-pass, all position fillet and butt weld using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding).
2. Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
3. Complete layouts using drawings and/or templates and/or by picking up and developing the geometry required.
4. Weld together metal components of products as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment.
5. Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
6. Weld completion in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
7. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
8. Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
9. May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
10. Set up and operate welding equipment and select proper electrodes according to metals to be joined or as instructed.
11. Perform grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes.
12. Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
13. Capable of using oxy/fuel torch to cut steel.
14. Proficient in adding and subtracting measurements.

Willing to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment and work independently to complete responsibilities as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $42,250.00 to $56,000.00 /year based on a 40-hour work week, with an average work week for 2023 being 45 hours. Benefits include 401k with company matching, health care, paid time off, and vacation.
