The Dermatology department at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a Locum Consultant Dermatologist to join the team on a fixed term basis. You will support with outpatient and inpatient clinics across three sites within the Trust (Harlow, Epping and Bishops Stortford). Outpatient review and advice constitutes the majority of the workload. There are no designated inpatient dermatology beds, however specialist advice is given on inpatients when requested.
You will support the general dermatology pathway including paediatric patients and patients on high risk drug. The post holder will conduct outpatient clinics for patients referred to PAHT, which will include conducting minor procedures, diagnostics or the management of complex patients. There is a requirement to understand the 31 day and 62 day cancer pathway, supporting with faster diagnosis and requirement to understand the RTT pathway.
Main duties of the job
1. You will work with professional colleagues and local managers to ensure the efficient running of the service and will share with other practitioners in the medical contribution to management.
2. You will see patients in an outpatient setting for mole mapping, checking, diagnosis.
3. Supporting patients along the cancer pathway for their first appointment, minor operation clinics, breaking bad news and surveillance.
The main duties are the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients with a dermatological skin condition, ensuring the department complies with any national standards for the delivery of care.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Register
2. An appropriate higher degree e.g. An MD or PHD equivalent
Desirable criteria
1. Hold MRCP (UK) qualification or equivalent
Experience

1. Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of “Good Medical Practice” from the GMC and meets its requirements
