Rosemary is 86 years old and lives with mild to moderate dementia. Always a quiet person, she generally prefers her own company and speaks very little, but she can smile, still has a good sense of humour and likes to hear people around the place. She is calm, aware of her surroundings, gets to know a bit about people she sees regularly, even asking the odd question, and follows a familiar routine that helps her feel secure. She stays in her room for most of the day, enjoying TV or resting, uses a wheeled frame for mobility and thrives in a calm, predictable environment. She enjoys:
1. Watching whodunnits, costume dramas, game shows on TV
2. Listening to audio books by her favourite author, Norah Roberts.
3. Going on accompanied short walks on fine days.
4. Playing simple card games, Scrabble or puzzles occasionally (with guidance).
5. Relaxing in her chair, often dozing.
Your role will involve helping Rosemary feel cared for and respected, ensuring her routines and well-being are maintained
The role would suit someone comfortable with light personal care who is looking for a flexible and rewarding opportunity to earn extra income while not being committed to working with us on a regular, set-hours-a-week-type basis. It could be ideal for someone who is retired, a part-time health or care professional seeking supplementary funds, someone looking for extra work to add to a multi strand, self-employed work portfolio or anyone with the right skills and temperament looking for a fulfilling role. It could dovetail well with hybrid or remote jobs too, and some weekend work will definitely be available.
