Job Summary
We're looking for someone to join our team at Smallfield Garage, MOT Tester/technician role.
It will be a role that requires flexibility between usual workshop service, maintenance, MOT and all types of vehicle repairs. Applicants must be able to confidently diagnose and repair vehicles. You must be able to work alone and as part of a team. We are always busy but maintain a friendly relaxed environment without the pressure of targets etc.
Must have good customer skills.
As a small business you would be required to tidy up after yourself and help maintain the workshop.
28 days Holiday + bank holidays
Plus a Week off paid between Christmas and new year
Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 - 5:30 and 1 Saturday per month 8.00-1.00.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair vehicle issues efficiently and accurately.
* Maintain vehicles by performing regular inspections and servicing.
* Assemble and disassemble vehicle components as required.
* Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Interpret technical schematics to understand vehicle systems.
* Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
* Ensure all work areas are kept clean and organised throughout the repair process.
* Perform welding tasks when necessary to ensure structural integrity of vehicle components.
* Assist in training junior technicians, sharing knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance practices.
Qualifications
* Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.
* Familiarity with various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
* Ability to lift heavy objects safely as part of the repair process.
* Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
* Experience reading and interpreting schematics related to vehicle systems is an advantage.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving with a keen attention to detail.
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential for candidates demonstrating strong aptitude in mechanical tasks.
