Why we have this role:
We’re looking for a Procurement Specialist to play this pivotal role on our team in Cambridge, Ontario. Your job will be to ensure the smooth operation of procurement activities with a national scope across the three nutritional divisions of the GVF Group of Companies. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the procurement process for your assigned portfolio of ingredients while managing the inbound and outbound purchases and sales of macro minerals and palm fats. Regulatory compliance, logistics, and inventory control, in partnership with supply chain, will also be components of the job that will help lead to the overall success of the organization.
Working with us:
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our head office at 151 Savage Drive, Cambridge, Ontario. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; however, please be advised that you may be required to work outside of these hours from time to time given the nature of the role.
What you’ll do:
* Manage all vendor and supplier relationships for your assigned portfolio of ingredients.
* Develop positive relationships with suppliers to better understand business development opportunities.
* Look to consolidate purchasing where possible to generate purchasing power on a national scale.
* Gain a greater understanding of the catalysts that affect the price of a product and work to understand market trends.
* Report on market trends and use information to aid in the position management of ingredients.
* Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure products and categories under your purview are ordered from the appropriate supplier at the right price.
* Ensure proper lead times are inputted for ingredients to aid the Supply Chain team in the purchase of ingredients.
* Meticulously use GVF’s internal MRP tool to gain pricing information and to aid the Supply Chain team in the day-to-day purchasing of ingredients.
* Work with our commodities team to ensure an end-to-end supply chain for macro minerals and palm fats is created to ensure competitive pricing of ingredients.
* Work with the HACCP team and Director of Regulatory to ensure our ingredients meet internal requirements and those of the New Ingredient Process.
* Implement procurement processes when needed throughout the implementation of a new ERP system.
Experience we like:
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in procurement, vendor management, and/or logistics is an asset.
* Experience purchasing commodities and ingredients for animal livestock is an asset.
* Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
* Exceptionally developed communication and interpersonal skills.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
