We are looking for a positive individual interested in working as part of a small team of schedulers within Dorset Highways business support. You will share our values and support our vision of ‘Moving Dorset Ahead’.
You will have the opportunity to work within a specific area of the county getting to know the teams there and once you are confident in your role you will have the opportunity to visit other teams to understand how their roles fit in with yours. The team has an ethos of continuous improvement with everyone's ideas welcome as to how the team can be better at what they do.
What you can expect to be doing:
Your main purpose will be to liaise between site agents, operational staff and the traffic team to schedule, permit and complete essential paperwork to ensure that the roads of Dorset are repaired and made safe for the public. You will deputise for other team members when needed.
Collaboration is key to the successful delivery of Dorset Highways works and you will take responsibility for prioritising your work to meet tight deadlines, often needing to react quickly to operational changes.
About you
We are looking for a team member with an attention to detail and an ability to prioritise, who is driven to improve our service and committed to the highest standards.
A robust team player, with a flexible approach, keen to support colleagues working in our friendly and busy team. A knowledge of traffic management and an understanding of the work of the highways department would be an advantage.
Exceptional communication/computer skills are required for this role and you’ll share our values building good working relationships with colleagues across Dorset Highways and the Council.
Training will be provided, but we would like someone with skills which are transferable to this role, with a willingness to learn quickly with the support of your team colleagues.
The successful candidate will require a driving licence and be able to travel to Charminster depot, where the team is based.
