About YESS
Your Emotional Support Service (YESS) is a mental health and wellbeing charity based in Staffordshire.
Our fabulous group of counsellors and wellbeing practitioners provide emotional support and opportunities for people of all ages, children, young people and adults. Our therapy team is made up of art therapists, dance movement therapists, person-centred counsellors, pluralistic and integrative therapists. YESS is an organisational member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a recognised counselling service with National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and we have practitioners who are also registered members.

CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE COUNSELLOR/THERAPISTS VACANCIES AVAILABLE
FLEXIBLE HOURS (ZERO HOURS CONTRACT)
SALARY - £26,111 full time equivalent gross per annum (actual salary pro-rata depending on number of hours worked)
YESS are seeking to recruit counsellors and therapists who have qualifications and expertise to work with children and young people within areas of Staffordshire. Counselling will take place in schools and community settings within Staffordshire Moorlands (which includes Leek, Biddulph and Cheadle) AND in the Stafford Area. Please only apply if you are able to travel to these locations.
JOB SUMMARY:
Counsellors/Therapists must be able to offer both brief and longer-term therapeutic interventions to Children & Young People.
This role requires the counsellor/therapist to be able to work independently within the school or community setting delivering one-to-one or group counselling to clients.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
* To offer professional therapeutic one-to-one and group interventions to Children & Young People referred to YESS through various projects
* To offer and provide innovative ways of delivering therapy
* To provide initial assessments and evaluate risk and the appropriateness of counselling for clients referred to YESS
* To liaise with professionals, and parents and carers of Children & Young People during counselling where appropriate to ensure support is maintained for the client
* To establish and maintain relationships with other relevant professionals to ensure good communication
* To undertake duty calls from other professionals and parents in need
* To fulfil professional clinical supervision requirements
* To work in line with YESS policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality
* To be a member of a recognised professional body such as: BACP, NCPS, BPS, UKCP etc
* To work in line with relevant ethical framework, always working in a safe and ethical manner
* To attend all line management, all staff and internal training meetings
* To maintain adequate records of clinical work
* To assist in the evaluation of the service by contributing to data collection and analysis and to participate in research as required
* To maintain training and continued professional development
* To participate in any other activities as agreed with the service managers including any relevant meetings and Child Protection conferences as required
* To be aware of and comply with the policies, procedures and service standards
* Represent and promote YESS within both the local community and schools
Person Specification
Essential
* Diploma in counselling or equivalent MSc. (or working towards MSc having completed the diploma element of the course)
* To be a member of a recognised professional body such as BACP, NCPS, BPS, UKCP etc
* Experience of working with the client group- Children & Young People
* Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and issues
Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Pay: £26,111.00 per year
Expected hours: 3 – 15 per week
