Join Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance as an Archaeologist.
Location: Flexible/Hybrid work from Peterborough office and home
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for an Archaeologist to support and enhance our project delivery team.
What will you be doing as our new Archaeologist?
You will be responsible for the successful production of archaeology and heritage inputs for the delivery of the Strategic Pipeline, reporting to the SPA Archaeology Discipline Lead.
This role will initially involve the production of archaeological risk-mapping using ArcGIS and MS Excel, to collate a baseline understanding of potential project risk. The role will then require the use of the risk-mapping to inform the production of Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessments.
You will also provide support in the design and management of archaeological surveys, evaluations and other types of intrusive fieldwork should they be required. You will support the whole SPA Archaeology Team (SAT) where needed; tasks include authoring written deliverables and producing supporting maps for specifications.
Successful delivery of the role will require you to work in collaboration with all other archaeology team members, the delivery team, and other disciplines ensuring technical consistency is maintained across the team and the SPA programme.
Key responsibilities:
1. You will produce archaeological risk maps identifying areas of high, moderate and low risk.
2. Utilise ArcGIS software without support.
3. Work in collaboration with other SAT members and share updates with the team on a regular basis.
4. Use the information gathered during the risk-mapping exercise to produce historic environment desk-based assessments.
5. Attend site walkovers and visit archives and record offices to gather baseline information.
6. Use the information gathered during the risk-mapping and desk-based assessments to inform the design of archaeological surveys and evaluations.
7. You will utilise your experience of archaeological fieldwork to inform the design.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours:
This job might be for you if you have:
1. The ability to use ArcGIS software to produce mapping and datasets
2. Demonstrable experience producing archaeological and historic baselines, impact assessments and deliverable figures.
3. A collaborative mindset who facilitates the sharing of historic environment information across project and delivery teams.
4. The ability to take personal responsibility for supporting programme delivery, particularly in the areas of adopting risk-based approaches, cost control and programme management.
5. The ability to work flexibly across several projects, and to meet required deadlines.
6. Effective written and verbal communication, and organization/analytical skills.
Not only do we look for the best talent to join us on our journey, we also look for individuals to demonstrate key behaviours that align with our values and beliefs.
Working with the highest degree of integrity, we want SPA employees to take ownership and accountability for their outputs and be driven to continuously improve how they work.
