We are recruiting for a national trade association who represent employers in the creative media services sector. Their mission is to advocate for their members at national, regional, and local levels, promoting the growth and sustainability of the industry through policy engagement, talent pipeline development, and member services.
The organisation is small but influential, with a strong reputation in the sector due to its active Board, trusted relationships, and dedicated team.
Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to manage their membership operations during a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will lead on all membership recruitment, engagement, and retention activities, as well as play a key role in sponsorship, events, and revenue generation. This role is ideal for someone experienced in membership or business development who thrives in a small, collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Membership & Business Development
1. Deliver the agreed plan for member recruitment, retention, and sponsorship.
2. Identify, research and engage prospective members and sponsors.
3. Build awareness and engagement with the organisation’s offer.
4. Support the development and refinement of business development strategies.
5. Act as the key point of contact for members throughout the membership cycle.
6. Monitor and address risks to renewal and proactively reduce churn.
7. Provide regular reports to the CEO and quarterly updates to the Board.
Member Communications & Marketing
1. Support development and distribution of member communications, including newsletters, emails, brochures and digital materials.
2. Liaise with the communications team to promote members and membership benefits.
3. Respond to queries from members, prospective members and stakeholders promptly and professionally.
4. Maintain accurate CRM and marketing records.
5. Oversee member benefit suppliers and ensure benefits are well-communicated.
6. Track budgets for membership marketing and development.
Events & Engagement
1. Contribute to the development and delivery of member-focused events.
2. Attend occasional industry events in London and across the UK.
3. Support initiatives to improve the overall membership experience.
4. Monitor member satisfaction and engagement levels and gather feedback to inform future activity.
General
1. Build a strong understanding of the sector and our advocacy work.
2. Work flexibly and collaboratively across the team.
3. Undertake other ad hoc duties to support wider organisational needs.
Person Specification
1. Proven knowledge of marketing, account management, or business development within a membership or trade association context.
2. Experience delivering value across the member lifecycle.
3. Confident negotiator with strong closing skills.
4. Ability to quickly understand and communicate sector-specific issues and value propositions.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
7. Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
8. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
9. Familiarity with tools like Eventbrite, SurveyMonkey, Zoom and Teams.
10. Understanding of the UK creative media, TV, or film industry.
11. Experience supporting C-level stakeholders.
12. Familiarity with trade or membership organisations.
Education & Experience
1. Minimum two years’ experience in a relevant membership, marketing, or sales role.
2. A Levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications) with GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) in Maths and English.
Additional Requirements
1. Home workspace and strong internet connection suitable for remote working.
2. Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK.
3. Ability to attend occasional evening events.
