ABOUT DIVISION
This position supports the EMEA Advertising Sales Team, which is tasked with generating ad revenue across the Europe, Middle East & Africa Region. The team collaborates closely with clients & media agencies to sell integrated advertising proposals across the BBC portfolio, including TV, digital, audio, and branded content.
THE ROLE
This role is responsible for enabling sales teams efforts to establish and retain business growth opportunities, by a combination of obtaining new clients/revenue streams and fostering business relationships to increase revenue from existing and historical commercial partnerships.
The business development director will work alongside sales teams with input and data from other businesses (eg BI) to create business development strategies to support the success of the regional sales business and help it achieve its organisational goals while increasing its revenue and profitability. A specific focus will be to support and spearhead tasks, priorities and processes to develop and implement growth opportunities within and between organisations.
This will involve, but not be limited to understanding the target audience, market size and opportunities within the competitive ecosystem, and effective outreach channels and products needed to drive successful new and larger strategic partnerships both in fiscal and medium/longer term.
Key Responsibilities
* In partnership with SVP/GM, VP of regional and Director level sales, create strategic and operational plans for allocated agencies, clients and countries specifying growth areas, new business opportunities, business development activities and supporting marketing initiatives that are in line with business strategy.
* Identify key players in the market and client/agency organisations and information gather from key stakeholders and competitors, and data to derive market size within BBC competitive set, and dependencies to counter propose and make inroads with partners.
* Support sales teams to clarify priorities and drive implementation of the sales plan and update the plan in line with changes in market conditions, new business opportunities and new products/technologies.
* Develop Account Plans for key agencies/clients detailing revenue and relationship objectives and competitive counter-strategies.
* Provide accurate and regular forecasts and business updates to line manager in collaboration with sales leads.
* Gather market information and intelligence from a variety of sources to identify future growth areas and inform the sales planning process.
* Assessing team performance when it comes to growing the business through client sales.
* Maintaining relationships with staff and keeping up-to-date on their work progress.
* Reporting on the most productive sales professionals and tactics.
* Writing reports and analysing relevant business data.
* Presenting findings to the team and executive members of staff.
* Promoting a culture of growth through sales across the business.
* Educating team members on best business practices and techniques for increasing effectiveness.
