About the Role: At HMP Rye Hill, a category 'B' training prison, we focus on rehabilitating offenders and preparing them for successful reintegration into society. We aim to create a safe and normalized environment for both staff and prisoners. We are seeking a Horticulture Instructor to manage our extensive grounds and provide valuable training to prisoners. Key Responsibilities: Maintain the grounds, including litter control, garden maintenance, and planning seasonal horticultural activities. Supervise and train prisoners in horticultural tasks, fostering a strong work ethic and improving their employability upon release Develop and implement individual learning plans for prisoners. Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, including health and safety, security, and quality standards. Complete necessary paperwork, including regime monitoring, prisoner pay, and tool checks. Collaborate with other departments (Learning & Skills, Resettlement, etc.) to meet prisoners' needs. Contribute to the establishment's "Purposeful Activity" Key Performance Target. Support the delivery of any accredited training/qualification offered and meet the standards and requirements of the awarding body. The Ideal Candidate: Qualifications and Experience: Experience in the horticulture or gardening industry. D32, D33, and D34 TDLB or Assessor Award A1 (or willingness to work towards one). Experience in a custodial environment and a Teaching qualification are desirable but not essential.
