Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Bristol, BS1 (hybrid working available)
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract – 9 months
Start Date: Immediate
Job Summary:
We're looking for a part-qualified Assistant Management Accountant to join our team on a 9-month fixed-term basis. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong grounding in core accounting tasks and month-end reporting. The role reports directly to the Financial Controller – MGA's & Networks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing monthly management accounts, including:
o Revenue recognition,
o Posting staff costs, expenses, and other cost of sales,
o Managing accruals, prepayments, and month-end journals,
o Reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
2. Processing payments for day-to-day operating expenses via online banking.
3. Reconcile bank and cash transactions to ensure all records are up-to-date and accurate.
4. Assisting with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
5. Supporting variance analysis and commentary for board and management reporting.
6. Assisting with audit queries and supporting year-end processes.
7. Collaborating with other departments to gather financial information and respond to queries.
8. Support ad-hoc financial projects, including process improvements and system enhancements.
About You:
1. Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent) with relevant experience.
2. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
3. Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems.
4. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
5. Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
6. Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style.
Desirable Skills:
Prior experience in financial services or insurance is helpful but not essential.
