Service: Regulatory Services
Closing Date: Friday 27th December 2024
An rare temporary opportunity exists for an Animal Health and Welfare Officer to work within the Regulatory Services team in Argyll and Bute. This opportunity, based in Lochgilphead (although this may be flexible based on experience), would ideally suit applicants working in a similar role in other local authorities or agencies, or those with experience applying standards and working in the agricultural sector.
The post (working 3 days per week) will work across the area depending on work priorities and will require extensive travel across the area. Ideally, the role will focus on work within the Bute, Cowal, and Helensburgh area, although there will be the need to work across the area to support colleagues and depending on service workload. The role involves working with colleagues, other government agencies, and the agricultural sector to secure standards to protect animal health and welfare.
Flexibility is essential as there will be occasional early morning or evening work, and other days to cover livestock markets and out-of-hours depending on service demand/emergencies.
As this is a re-advertisement, we welcome applications from qualified animal health and welfare officers. However, consideration will be given to applicants with suitable skills and experience working with livestock, to be employed as a Trainee Animal Health and Welfare Officer, or Authorised Officer who would undertake a training program to qualification. The requirements for these posts are set out in the career pathway outlined in the supporting information with salaries (pro-rata of £28322-39436 and £30257-32374 respectively).
