About this opportunity
We require an effective leader responsible for the strategic leadership and the management of Westmorland and Furness Council’s Corporate and Schools Estate. The candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of asset management functions across a diverse portfolio of 1200 assets.
A Senior Leader Who:
* Manages a diverse portfolio across a multi-disciplinary professional team including Soft Facility, Hard Facility, Estates, and Strategic Asset Management functions.
* Identifies opportunities for redevelopment, lease re-gears, or change of use to maximize income and enhance value of our assets in line with our Strategic Asset Management and Capital Strategy.
* Collaborates with internal teams and external consultants on planned maintenance, repairs, and legal compliance.
* Prepares budgets, oversees income and expenditure, and identifies opportunities for capital receipts or portfolio improvements.
* Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment with the council’s goals.
* Develops and implements policies, strategies, and delivery plans to support asset performance and sustainability.
We are looking for someone with:
* A relevant degree or professional qualification (RICS preferred or working towards Chartership).
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the public sector, with a proven track record in asset management.
* Strong knowledge of property management, compliance, and budget oversight.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management skills.
* A collaborative and innovative approach, aligned with our vision and values.
