We are now expanding our provision and looking to take on a SEN & Behaviour Intervention TA in the beginning of February. Working hours: 09:30-14:30, Monday to Friday.
You will be required to provide specialist support to our secondary aged pupils on a 1-1 and small group support basis who have a range of behavioural difficulties that limit their engagement within education. As a SEMH Intervention TA, you will also be supporting pupils with varying SEN; Autism, ADHD, Attachment disorders, Dyslexia, ODD & Complex Needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons and activities, catering to the diverse needs of students within the unit.
* Provide one-on-one support to students who may require additional assistance, ensuring their unique learning requirements are met.
* Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment by effectively managing student behaviour and fostering a supportive atmosphere.
* Work closely with teachers to plan and implement effective teaching strategies, adapting to the varied learning styles and abilities of students.
* Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials, ensuring that resources are accessible and conducive to a productive learning environment.
* Regularly assess and report on student progress, collaborating with teachers to identify areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
* Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
* Support the integration of students with diverse needs into mainstream education settings, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting inclusivity.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Relevant Qualifications: Possess a minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, demonstrating a solid understanding of educational principles.
* Experience: Previous experience working in a similar role, particularly within a Pupil Referral Unit or alternative education setting, is highly desirable.
* Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
* Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of students.
* Team Player: Work collaboratively with the teaching team and other professionals to create a supportive and cohesive learning environment.
* Resilience: Demonstrate resilience and patience in managing challenging behaviours and situations.
