As a Desktop and Security Engineer, your role is responsible for supporting and securing the essential IT tools (hardware, software, and security infrastructure) required by employees to perform their roles efficiently and securely. This position ensures a productive and secure environment by providing end-user support, managing security tooling, and assisting with incident response.
What will you be doing?
End-User Support & IT Operations
* Provide hardware and software support for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices
* Resolve IT support tickets efficiently and with a high level of detail
* Deliver polite and welcoming new user orientation and day-1 training on IT tools
* Maintain IT asset inventory and ensure devices are effectively provisioned, secured, and decommissioned using MDM platforms (JAMF, Manage Engine)
Security and IT Operations & Compliance
* Support Orion Health UK, Europe, and Middle East technology needs, including telephony and audio-visual tools for global meetings
* Ensure security tools are deployed across the UK, Europe, and Middle East estate (desktop and cloud)
* Work with incident responders on security events and coordinate with operational teams as required
* Ensure security tooling output (e.g. vulnerability reports and dashboards) are actionable and integrated into operational teams' workflows
* Identify gaps in IT and security processes and lead improvements in documentation
* Assist with security tooling integrations, automated patching, and upgrades
* Support external security audits within the UK, Europe, and Middle East Region
* Ensure all company devices meet IT and security compliance standards
* Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate security and compliance documentation
What will you bring to the role?
* Experience: You have 3+ years’ experience working in an IT support, security engineering, or related role.
* Skills: You will possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users. Comfort in working independently, prioritizing tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for regular interactions with Orion Health personnel and external suppliers. You should have experience with Office 365 security best practices, Active Directory, and MDM tools, along with strong support knowledge in macOS, Windows 11, iOS, and Android software and hardware. An analytical mindset, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve security issues, is key. Additionally, knowledge of deploying and configuring security tooling, including EDR agents on-prem or in the cloud, is beneficial. Experience working with external IT or security vendors and supporting audits would be a valuable asset.
