Job Title: Interim Registered Manager (Children’s Home) Reporting to: Operations Director Location: March, Cambridgeshire Salary: £24 Per Hour About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to oversee the daily operations of a children’s home. The successful candidate will ensure the safety, wellbeing, and development of young people in their care while leading a team of professionals to deliver the highest standards of care. As a Registered Manager, you will play a critical role in creating a nurturing and stable environment, supporting young people through challenges, fostering their personal growth, and ensuring the home operates efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including: Children Acts 1989 & 2004 Care Standards Act 2000 Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 Safeguard children and young people from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Oversee the development, coordination, and support of the staff team. Supervise senior staff and ensure effective staff management practices, including support and supervision sessions. Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards. Manage budgets and ensure financial efficiency. Coordinate admissions and discharges, ensuring alignment with the home’s Statement of Purpose. Liaise with social workers, healthcare professionals, educators, and other stakeholders. Maintain high standards of communication and professional conduct across the team. Ensure the home is well-maintained and compliant with health and safety standards. Person Specification Essential Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People). Current UK driving licence with business motor insurance. Desirable Qualifications: NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care Leadership and Management (or working towards). Youth Work or relevant professional qualification. Experience: At least 5 years of experience working with children and young people. A minimum of 2 years in a senior role in children’s services. Managerial experience in a children and young person setting is desirable. Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of childcare legislation and regulatory frameworks. Knowledge of adolescent development and attachment theories. Leadership, human resource, and financial management skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to safeguarding and child protection. Personal Attributes: Excellent interpersonal skills.
