As part of our client’s growth forecast, we now have an opening for a two-way radio workshop/events engineer in their engineering department at one of their leading offices in Bedford.
Being one of the UK’s leading independent communications suppliers, specializing in the design, supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of wireless voice and data networks, our client has an excellent dedicated radio engineering team. Each of their staff members is trained by every leading manufacturer to the highest standard and provided with the latest DMR and Tetra test sets to ensure even the latest equipment can be repaired to component level. They are now seeking a Workshop/Events Engineer to join this thriving business.
The Individual
Role Includes:
1. Troubleshooting & repair of high-end radio products down to the component level (These products will include portables, mobiles, and repeaters)
2. Having a good hand for soldering and identifying electronic components
3. Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and service schedules to repair customer products
4. Extensive troubleshooting to the component level for both analogue and digital
5. Requesting parts from the Stockroom
6. Filling out repair reports
7. Communicating with customers by telephone
8. Advising Supervisor of recurring problems
9. Training lower-level technicians
10. The candidate must meet daily production goals in a fast-paced environment and must have hands-on experience
Desired Skills and Experience:
1. Experience with RF communications and radio
2. Understanding of RF theory and basic electronics to the component level
3. Proficient in the use of a communications analyser, electrical circuit troubleshooting, and operation of test equipment
