Salary: £59,000 - £73,500 DOE + £1,400 Management Allowance
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (15-18 Months)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (Minimum 2 Days Office Attendance Per Week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal SEN Lawyer to join a well-regarded public sector legal team. This role involves leading a team providing expert legal services on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and broader education law matters, ensuring compliance with statutory duties while advising on complex and high-profile cases.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality legal advice on SEN matters, including Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Tribunal proceedings.
2. Lead, manage, and supervise a team of lawyers, allocating work and ensuring service delivery.
3. Represent the organisation in courts and tribunals, conducting advocacy and instructing Counsel where required.
4. Develop and deliver legal training to stakeholders, ensuring best practices in SEN law.
5. Oversee and manage a politically sensitive caseload, advising on legislative changes and best practice approaches.
