Senior Quantity Surveyor - Gas Division

The Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager for the Gas Framework and being responsible for delivering best in class contract controls, coupled with P&L performance across the Projects, which has designated multi-disciplinary services. Accountable for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of the project from inception to close out, ensuring that maximum efficiencies are obtained and full compliance with all B-UK governance procedures is achieved. Will also work closely with Technical, Project Management and Project Controls teams.
Key Activities
1. Provide accurate live forecasting taking into account the project programme and reporting in accordance with the respective SAP accounts. Account needs to be made of internal resource charges, subcontract spend, procurement and other associated costs.
2. Ensure SAP accurately reflects project and framework contract status in terms of actual and forecast revenue, costs, work in progress (WIP) and obligations.
3. Monitor and assess actual costs against the baseline estimate, particularly all site costs including direct labour, plant & materials, and management bookings, challenging any variance to the plans.
4. Implement robust project controls and accurate reporting of progress/work done, estimated costs-to-complete, factoring in all contractors' responsibilities.
5. Administer NEC3/4 Contracts including the creation of early warnings, payment certificates, compensation event notifications and quotations, while providing suitable responses to client communications.
6. Demonstrate experience using electronic contract administration systems (Fastdraft, CEMAR, Conject, Aconex).
7. Maintain proper records so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
8. Provide robust estimates and quotations aligned to scope, making due allowance for all risks and opportunities.
9. Align with the overall commercial strategy within B-UK to ensure goals, targets and objectives are delivered.
10. Report any withheld, disputed or disallowed costs to the Project Manager and Project Board, ensuring inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme costs.
11. Actively participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Financial & Commercial experience of projects and/or term contracts.
2. Contract administration experience working with NEC3/4 suite of contracts.
3. Experience dealing with multidisciplinary operational and project teams.
4. 5+ years’ experience working within a contracting or customer commercial role.
5. Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying Degree.
6. Membership of a professional body e.g. RICS (preferred).
